A Day at North Ridge: The 37th Capital City Golf Classic in Photos
On Monday, September 28, 84 players, our members, and one very large inflatable Rotary wheel spent the day at North Ridge Country Club for the 37th Annual Capital City Golf Classic. The numbers are already in our review of the tournament: the day netted $30,067 for the Robert N. Styres Scholarship. This post is about the day itself.

Check-In
The day started at the registration tables on the clubhouse porch. Members and friends checked in players and sold raffle tickets and mulligans, and the line moved all morning steadily.
The Raffle Table
Along the porch, a long table filled up with raffle prizes. Players stopped to read the cards and drop their tickets in before heading out to the course.
On the Practice Green
Before the round, players warmed up on the practice green, with our Rotary wheel keeping watch from the edge.
The Shotgun Start
Then the carts lined up outside the clubhouse, and the whole field headed out at once.

Why We Serve
From the outside, a golf tournament looks like a day off. For our club, it is months of work: finding sponsors, filling teams, collecting raffle prizes, and running the day itself. Members do that work because of where the money goes. The Robert N. Styres Scholarship sends a Wake County public high school graduate who has overcome real adversity to college.
The Four-Way Test asks: Will it build goodwill and better friendships? A day like this one does both, and it turns a round of golf into a student's education. That is Service Above Self.
