March 12, 2024 -- The Rotary Club of the Capital City was pleased to welcome Hugh Stevens. When not busy practicing law, Hugh spends his time watching birds. While Hugh has traveled extensively to photograph birds in their native settings, his topic was much closer to home -- the birds in your backyard.
Hugh began his talk by showing a video with undertones of Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring." Predation by domestic outdoor cats is the top threat to birds in the US and Canada. In the US alone, pet cats kill approximately 2.4 billion birds every year.
