August 22, 2023 -- The Rotary Club of the Capital City was pleased to welcome Dale Folwell, North Carolina State Treasurer. Treasurer Folwell, who has announced his candidacy for governor in 2024, spoke about his goals to make the government work for all citizens, and make healthcare more transparent. North Carolina is one of the nation's most fiscally sound states and has the 25th largest pool of public money worldwide. One harbinger of the need for sound management: female state employees will receive from now on more retirement checks than paychecks. Treasurer Folwell emphasized the significance of the recent acquisition of Silicon Valley Bank by Raleigh-based First Citizens Bank.
